2023 Buscot Run – THANK YOU

After Saturday’s bad weather, to wake up glorious sunshine at 7am on a Sunday morning, was very welcome.
Tables chairs, signs and gazebos all loaded in the cars and on site at 8am.
Gazebos erected, tables sorted, spread sheets distributed and the Registration marshals got their first customers, the event is now LIVE.

We had 31 runners set off for the 5k, the route, considering the previous days weather, was good with just some puddles and the odd muddy patch. The winner of the 5k was a junior in a time of 19+ mins, well done. Although our own Bjorn finished well, for an 81year old well done.

With the last runner finishing virtually on the dot of 10:30 (unfortunately she’d rolled her ankle in the first 2k but was determined to finish, refusing a lift from the support car). It was great to see 3 generations of Lord Faringdon’s family competing, led by James, his son &, daughter in law and grand child.

The 10k started on time with over 50 runners, running down hill, around the grass car park and back up the hill to cross the front of Buscot house, then out into the countryside, down and up the big dip, through the wood, to the first water station manned by Heather, on out around the Corn field, to water station 2 with Mary & Amy, along the tarmac road, to turn left and back up past the Cricket pavilion to to top of the dip, complete that circuit again, and then they head back to the House and on to the car park and finish. All the Rotary guys and gals welcomed them back, medals awarded by our President to all runners for both 5 & 10k races. A rapid collection of posts, signs, water bottles and gazebos and we are leaving the site as we found it.

Thank you to Lord Faringdon and the National Trust for allowing us to use the beautiful grounds of Buscot House for the 2023 charity run and huge thank you to all who entered and helped and organised the run.

Until Next Year!
