A word from our President

I am thrilled to announce my election as the President of Rotary Club Faringdon and District for the Rotary year 2023/24. The club is undergoing positive changes, and we have an extensive agenda of fundraising events scheduled for the year. We will be participating in Truck Fest, where we will be crafting and selling hundreds of pizzas to eager festival-goers. Additionally, we are set to host the Buscot 10k run, our annual fireworks display in November, and our now renowned Stop Polio fundraising dinner. In December, Santa and his sleigh will enchant the residents of Faringdon and the surrounding villages. Concurrently, we will be involved in various projects to support those less privileged than ourselves, both locally and in international initiatives.

In the background, alongside several committee members, I will lead efforts to establish a new foundation for the club concerning financial accounting, compliance, and operations. This promises to be an exciting initiative, allowing us to leverage new technologies and streamline club administration for maximum efficiency.

Naturally, I will also represent RCFD at the District and National levels, where our noteworthy efforts, considering the size of our club, have been acknowledged.

Lastly, member recruitment is a vital aspect of the president’s role, and indeed, all club members share in this responsibility. We will enhance our presence on social media, clarify our nomenclature, and demonstrate to the local population that Rotary is synonymous with “doing good AND having fun.”

Karen Eveleigh
