A new lease of life for Shrivenham Benches

Rotary Club Faringdon and District used the good weather to do good. On this occasion it was the refurbishment of cast iron benches in and around Shrivenham. After a number of years of use and abuse by the elements the benches were in a sorry state and needed wooden slats replacing as well as a full rub down and repaint.

Armed with the appropriate tools our team of Rotarian volunteers set to the task and after short time the benches were looking as good as new again. Glyn was satisfied with the result: “Using recycled plastic slats for the benches will give them a longer life as well as proving a good use for plastic waste which may otherwise be placed in landfill” and commented with a smile: “Painting the benches with the special thick outdoor metal paint is immensely satisfying having put in the hard work to rub down the metalwork. The fiddly bits around the logos in gold and blue can take a little longer!”

“The benches were donated by the Rotary Club some years ago and it is lovely to see them in top condition once again.” said Clive, President of Faringdon and District Rotary Club.
