A few club members attended the open meeting of the Faringdon Peace Group on 11th May. Club member Mohinder had been invited to speak about Rotary’s commitment to peace and its programme of activities. The four great speakers for the “Building a Fairer World” event covered a wide range of subjects from climate justice to the power of protests, raising awareness of pollution in our rivers, and Rotary peace centres, and all brilliantly chaired by Tracy Walsh. Despite it being a very sunny afternoon, the event was well attended and it was great to be able to chat to so many different people about Rotary activities and also listen to the inspiring speakers.
As Mohinder noted after the meeting:
“The event was not only informative and enjoyable, but it also provoked deep thought and introspection. While I may not have agreed with all the viewpoints presented, I appreciated the chance to broaden my horizons and consider different perspectives. This, I believe, is one of the greatest benefits of attending such a gathering.”
