The club welcomed Callum Skeat as our guest speaker for this evening’s meeting. The 28 Engineer Regiment was deployed for 5 months to the Balkans as part of Operation Agricola in 1999.
A fascinating insight into deployment in Skopje, Albania, Greece and then into Kosovo where he oversaw the construction of a refugee camp from construction of the camp to its initial operation and handover to the NGOs. Along the way bases were built, roads upgraded and bridges built. A humbling tale of deployment to a war zone, human misery and how highly trained professionals can make a difference to the lives of a desperate population.
The club thanked Callum for a fascinating and insightful talk. If you would like to join one of our meetings as a guest please use the contact form to arrange your virtual visit.
