Thanks to all the residents of Faringdon, Shrivenham and Clanfield who supported our club’s Christmas tree collection last weekend. It was a bitterly cold day but that didn’t deter people from dragging their trees to the collection points or popping a tree into the back of the car for the short journey.
Club members started with the large tree in the market square, with professional help who cut the tree down and provided a nice wake-up call for town centre residents with the chain saw. As in previous years we are very grateful for the support of Andy Lidiard who provided trailers for us to fill and took the trees away to be shredded and used locally.
We know that there are a few more options now than there used to be for environmentally friendly disposal of Christmas trees, but it’s great that our service is still appreciated.

And the final thank you goes to all those who gave us a donation along with their tree. We raised £670 in total, for Helen & Douglas House and for other local charities.
A quick update on Thomas & Santa on tour through December. We hope that you saw them both out and about in Faringdon and the surrounding villages. We raised over £1,100 for local charities. If you would like us to do more stops next year then please let us know if you can help. We particularly need drivers who can confidently (and competently!) tow Thomas, plus maybe a few more people who don’t mind putting on a white beard!
