Faringdon & District Rotary Awards Funds to 13 Local Organisations Using a Dragons Den Concept

Faringdon & District Rotary hosted a unique event that brought a new twist to community fundraising. Using a format inspired by the popular television show “Dragons’ Den,” the club awarded funds to 13 local organisations. Three judges listened to a series of passionate and often moving presentations from these organisations, which cover a wide range of community services from mental health support to sports, music, environment and sustainability initiatives.

The atmosphere in the room was charged with excitement and anticipation as each organisation took the stage to present their case. Unlike the competitive nature of the television show, however, every participating organisation was assured of receiving funds. This inclusive approach highlighted the Rotary club’s commitment to supporting a broad spectrum of charitable work in the Faringdon community.

Following the presentations, the judges deliberated the amounts to be awarded while participants enjoyed a networking dinner. This dinner provided a valuable opportunity for local organisations to meet and exchange ideas, fostering collaboration and strengthening community ties. The convivial atmosphere allowed representatives to share their experiences, challenges, and successes, laying the groundwork for future partnerships and initiatives.

Karen, president of the Rotary club, spoke warmly about the event. “It is humbling to see the tremendous community spirit in Faringdon,” she said. “It gives us great pleasure to be able to support such amazing charitable work.” Her words underscored the collective effort and dedication that define the local community and the Rotary club’s role in fostering these values.

The funds distributed at the event were the result of a year’s worth of fundraising activities by the Rotary club. Members engaged in a variety of initiatives, including charity runs, community events, fireworks, pizza selling and much more, all aimed at pooling resources to support local causes. This relentless fundraising effort reflects the club’s unwavering dedication to enhancing the quality of life in the Faringdon area.

The awarded funds will enable these organisations to continue and expand their valuable work, positively impacting the Faringdon community. The Rotary club’s innovative approach not only provided financial support but also brought together community leaders, volunteers, and local organisations, strengthening the bonds that make Faringdon a vibrant and caring community.

As the event concluded, there was a sense of optimism and unity from the attendees. The Rotary club’s support will undoubtedly help these organisations achieve even greater heights, continuing to do good in the community and making Faringdon an even better place to live.
